# Why metadata?

To organize documents and folders in a standardized way and make them easier to find in the search, additional information is assigned to entries. This information is called metadata. Metadata is stored in metadata forms.

The process involves assigning keywords to a document or folder. Metadata is data about an entry. The quality of a repository depends to a great extent on the quality of the metadata. Metadata forms allow you to organize documents in a standardized way and file them quickly to ELO. In addition, using metadata makes it easier to find documents.
